Do I have to file a Wisconsin tax return ? I am a full-time Illinois resident, and work full-time in
Illinois, yet I have a duplex in Kenosha, WI. Am I
obligated to file a return for WI for this income, or does
the recip agreement between IL and WI eliminate this
requirement? Is there anyone in a similar circumstance that
can speak from experience?No experience.

I've been looking on the net for specific informations, but
was not able to get any that I could digest easily.
In a nutshell, I'm thinking about moving in the state of
Virginia from Canada to work in the IT field. One of the
many factors influencing this decision is the income tax
versus what we pay here.
So in short, I'm looking for the taxation level paid by an
individual globally (State and Federal level)

-The taxes are not voluntary, they are mandatory.
The tax collection sytem relies on voluntary compliance.
But if you don't voluntarily comply with the law, you will be forved to do so.

I read that in 1999 48% of federal income tax filers paid zero tax.
Furthermore, due to the Earned Income Tax Credit, many of these

-Not really. The income tax is measured/calculated based on taxable income,
and is levied against the individual or entity that earns/generates the
income. Of course it doesn't matter what reality is,

I work for a company in Ohio. I have an apartment in Ohio and have
lived there for many years. My job required me to be at a work site
in Texas much of 2002. The first week of January 2002, I went to

Income tax in Washington State? No way - what an evil concept. The
concept is revolting.
Don't forget that income taxes create huge monsters, just look at the
IRS.

progressive income tax on earnings… Limitation of priva... How can I find the individual state income tax rates for each of the US
states (that has an income tax), short of contacting each state tax

page (http://www.taxweb.com). Also, if that doesn't help, try going to your local library and finding a copy of the CCH State Tax Guide. I
believe that this is a multi-volume set that lists the tax rates for each state (among other things).
