Total All Debt trends - what's happening here? What I am asking you about is the specific category term used by the
Federal Reserve - "Domestic Financial Sector Debt" - which is separate
from their other main categories such as "Household debt", "Business
Debt", government, etc. I understand the components of household,
business, etc. and can add all their categories to arrive at $21.5
trillion total debt excluding the $1.5 trillion of fed govt trust fund
debt the Fed reserve does not count because the fed. govt only issued

"non-profit"debt management, or self-negotiation is the way to go.Please ask me? For the past few days, I have been mulling over whether bankruptcy,
"non-profit"debt management, or self-negotiation is the way to go. I
am sure many have asked this same question here.
My specific situation is $69,000 of unsecured debt with combined
payments of around $2100 per month. The debt is a combination of
personal loans and credit cards, some of which will be paid off in 18
months, and some minimum payments that would last almost forever.
These payments represent 30% of ... How is personal debt impact the economy? There is a definite connection betweed the creditors and policy-
making institutions. I hold some debt, and I also voted for some of
those policy makers. The creditors are, by and large, us, as the majority
of the public debt is held by US citizens, who, I presume, also vote.
And I have one question:How is personal debt impact the economy?-Yes and no (expect anything different from an economist?).
Personal debt certainly can be a good thing -- as a grad student
who rationally ex... Do you think that our Debt Management Program
is designed especially for you? If you answer "yes" to most of these questions our Debt Management Program
is designed especially for you. Our program will consolidate your accounts
into one "lower" fixed monthly payment and systematically eliminate your
debt.
What's more, you may save thousands of dollars in interest charges,
eliminate past due amounts, stop expensive late fees, bring your accounts
current, and put an end to upsetting collection calls.

when should you use one over the other? Who are the good guys vs. bad guys in debt counseling?Lot's of
companies advertise that they are "non-profit" but are actually
non-profit in name only. How can you tell which are legitimate? What's
the difference between non-profit and for-profit debt management and
when should you use one over the other? Where does bankruptcy fit into
all of this?-Debt Management- an umbrella name for a large group of debt-environment
functions and activities such as debt reduction, consolidation,
... Considering debt management program...any advice? I currently have a great deal of credit card debt and am considering
entering into a debt management plan. So many credit counseling firms
are out there, it's kind of mind-boggling to choose the right one.
Does anyone have any advice?-Consider Professional Debt Management, a proactive alternative. Visit my web
site at http://www.capitol-debt-resources.net
-Checkout Debt Counselors of America at http://www.getoutofdebt.org.
(non-profit organization status) They have a great real aud... How is it legal for those scammy businesses to offer 'debt negotiation'? How is it legal for those scammy businesses to offer 'debt negotiation',
'debt settlement' etc, dealing with one creditor at a time, although an
individual is not supposed to show 'preference' to one creditor before
others?-The preference provisions apply only once you have filed for bankruptcy. It
is perfectly legal to give preference to one creditor over another if you
don't file.
-So if I did pay by preference, would this prevent me from filing bankruptcy
for some length of tim... opinions on debt negotiation ? I have been researching on options for debt and have been finding the
info here very helpful. I guess you can say I would be a prime
candidate for BK as I have no assets, little income, etc. but I am
determinded to explore all other options first. I have contacted one
of those debt negotiations firms that claim they can get your debt
reduced by about 50% for a 12% fee. The only downside being I will be
reported late for the months it takes me to save enough money to make
a settlement h... Do you know the problem about Government Debt Management? In Bankruptcy 1995, Harry E. Figgie warned that the government debt was
becoming so large that within a few years, the interest payments would
swamp everything else, and it would be impossible to ever pay off the
debt, or even afford the interest payments, leading to a devastating
default. Although the federal deficit turned into a surplus under
Clinton, the deficit has come back larger than ever under Bush ($400
billion), and the national debt is over $6.6 trillion! Thus we are on... Do yu know I would appreciate feedback on the debt reduction programs offered by
organizations like Genus Credit Management and PDS? I would appreciate feedback on the debt reduction programs offered by
organizations like Genus Credit Management and PDS (Personal Debt
Solutions). These orgs are non-profit and have agreements with credit
card issuers & banks for lower interest rates for debtors they sign up.
To sign up you give all your consumer debt accounts (credit cards,
unsecured loans...) to Genus or PDS and they lump them into one payment
per month. In my case my monthly payment would go down 23% through

to address the issue of personal freedom, personal financial
management, and how that pertains to being a good steward in light
of the Lord's commandments regarding financial management (including
the counsel to avoid unsound debt).
Yes, the leaders of the church are concerned about excessive debt
on the part of members. Yes the economy is good right now, but if
technology changes your work environment, what will you... Free Debt Management ? This expense with my car was going to be my last straw financially. I

The person on the phone was really helpful and reassuring. And it's free,

management and some family expenses that were beyond my control. I'm
in Arizona and have appx. $16,000 worth of unsecured debt...mostly
credit card + appx. $11,000 owed on my car (presently worth
$9500-10,000). Altogether around $27,000 total debt. I pay roughly
$340 a month on my car and have kept up on payments for the 2 years or
