Anybody have experience with unsecured Debt Relief Does anyone have info on recent developments regarding the tax
liability on forgiven debt?
Last I heard, somebody was working on a change in legislation in
Congress. Did anything ever happen?
Got a call yesterday from an owner who currently has his condo listed
at 140K, subject to a short sale. According to the public record he
paid 172K in 6/91. He now owes 151K. As he lives in the condo and he
can't write of the loss on the personal residence, it looks to me like
he'd have at ... how I should plan for my Universal Debt Reduction? would like to get a few suggestions on how I should plan for my
savings/retirement. Yes, I do have a clue as to what I want to do, so no
flames please. If you would please cc responses by email so I can be sure
to review all of them.

My Age - 24 years

We both recently finished our education and are in our first "real" jobs

tax us for it? We recently sold our house in CA through the pre-foreclosure/short-sale
program. The final sales price was about $25,000 less than the loan
amount. Is it true that the IRS will count this debt relief as income and
tax us for it? If so is there a way to avoid this? The rules get a bit involved. If the lender has no recourse against your
other assets, generally the outstanding entire balance of the loan is
treated as the sales price for purposes of computing a gain or loss on sale.
Alter... Does anybody know who I could contact to discuss excessive student loan debt? Does anybody know who I could contact to discuss excessive student loan debt? I
don't know if I need a lawyer for this or not.
I am not in default, but am currently in forebearance, gaining incredible
amounts of interest. I cannot afford the debt, and have already consolidated to
a 30 year loan. Even on a graduated payment, I cannot afford it. I also looked
into the income contingent plan, but they take my wife's income into account,
and that makes the payments even more than they are fo... What are the advantages/disadvantages of both Credit Counseling or Debt Settlement? I know someone who has approximately $34,000 U.S. of credit card debt.
This person is considering Credit Counseling or Debt Settlement, in
order to get out of this amount of debt. What are the
advantages/disadvantages of both Credit Counseling or Debt Settlement?
Given this aforementioned financial situation, what would be the best
strategy to handle this debt? Any kind, sincere, and honest (but NOT
critical) advice regarding this subject will be greatly appreciated.Sorry, critical advic... Self Help Debt Reduction Since the government is unable to supply reserves in northern Ontario with
safe drinking water, maybe the reserves should apply for help from UNICEF.
That is certainly the sort of thing UNICEF does. And if UNICEF answers the
call, it would serve to embarass a government that has a 3 billion dollar
"surplus" to give everyone a big tax refund but somehow can't afford safe
water for its people.
GIVE BACK YOUR CHEQUES!
I was giving back mine for debt reduction, but if they can use it to s... Can I go ahead and get out now with no problems (I've been in the chapter 13 four years now all debt is paid but the
secured)? I've been in the chapter 13 four years now all debt is paid but the
secured .
My question is Can I go ahead and get out now with no problems?I'm assuming that you mean that all of the debt is paid except for the
*un*secured. Were you to dismiss your case now, all your unsecured creditors
could now go after you for the full balance due (including interest, late
fees, etc. incurred during the period of the bankruptcy).
Discuss this with your attorney *before* doing anything.... Relief From Debt An aura of sanctity is descending upon the world's most powerful men. On
Saturday the finance ministers from seven of the G8 nations (Russia was
not invited) promised to cancel the debts the poorest countries owe to
the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. The hand that holds
the sword has been stayed by angels: angels with guitars rather than
harps.
Who, apart from the leader writers of the Daily Telegraph, could deny
that debt relief is a good thing? Never mind that much of... Why haven't ANY of the politicians recommended using the surplus to reduce
the National Debt which is costing us over $200 billion annually in interest
payments ( and much of it to foreign governments and over seas investors)? Its disgusting to see how the politicians are manipulating a gullible
public.
The Democrats are proposing several dozen new government initiatives to
spend the "surplus" on and the Republicans want to spend it on a tax cut.
What deception and sophistry!
There is no surplus. Last years surplus of $70 billion resulted in the
National Debt INCREASING BY $132 billion dollars. The surplus is practicing
the fine art of political deception with creative book keeping.
Why haven't ANY o... Has exemplaring been changed since the last time I
dabbled in it and got (IIRC) fast debt reduction? Glory was out of missions except for one contact offering a
PITA, timed, team-required mission. So I'm in a team, exemp'ed down to 21
for debt-clearing, and I take the mission... which turns out to be a 29-
30, way too tough even when I un-exemp'ed and sk'ed the other blaster.
So I quit for the night and log back on to find I got the usual token XP
for the failed mission... and at least two more mission offerings. First
(a huge DE mission) cleared the 9th bubble. The last - and perhaps m... Rapid Debt Reduction Calculator Ok, the problem i am having is when i make a bill payment that is a
scheduled debt payment in my budgeted account it shows this below:
Actual Budgeted difference
Debt 962.27 537.21 (425.06)
it reduces the budgeted amount by the recent payment. why does it do this.
What can i do to fix it. My origional Budgeted debt amount was 962.00
through the debt reduction calculator. This doesn't make my budget reports
come out right and is r... Does anyone have a mathematical formula for debt reduction? Does anyone have a mathematical formula for debt reduction? I'm trying to
decide whether to pay of a credit card, time-share loan, or home equity loan
first. I don't want to pay for a service to figure this for me. I want to
do it myself. There is no single mathematical formula to determine such a think. What
you need to do is look at each debt separately. Get the payoff amount on
each of your debts and the amount of interest you still owe then simply do
the comparison. In general, all yo... Personal Loan To Consolidate Debt Hopefully someone here can offer me some input. About 14 months ago
my husband and I sought out a non-profit debt consolidation company to
help us with our whopping debt load of 30,000 in credit card and
personal loan debt. Since we began the program, we've paid out a
little over 11,000 dollars, but thus far only about 7,000 of that
total has gone toward the actual debt. Over a third of our monthly
payments is still going toward interest. I am probably being naive
(which is undoubtedly w... Personal Finance Form And Debt Reduction It's been eight months since I've launched my first shareware,
a personal finance management software. I had only two sales so
far. Truth is, I've stopped on my promotion efforts and will get
back to them next week.
Could you guys visit my website and tell me if there are major
issues I need to fix? http://www.abassis.com/
I plan on publishing some articles about debt reduction, budget,
finance management, saving accounts, which could also improve
my ranking and search clout on Google... does anyone else have any good ideas aboout Personal Debt Reduction? In my opinion, most personal management/debt reduction books fail
because they assume that all you have to do is decide to cut expenses,
and that's that. They seem to be written for single people with will
power, married without kids, and married people where both spouses
agree on financial details and both have strong willpower. In my
case, I have teenagers that refuse to help in anyway, and a spouse
with differing ideas and priorities, and I have poor willpower. So
most advice amounts ...
