Q. I live in NY, and starting this past September, I heard we can get free credit reports. I have a few questions, I hope you all can help me out on. 1. Is there 1 official site for the free reports, or do I go to the 3 (trans, experian, and the 3rd one) websites and get it there? I have seen links and reports saying there is 1 official site, but I have seen 2 different "official" sites, so I am a bit catious about that. 2. I assume, I still need to purchase a FICO report from each place...? 3. Its 1 free report a year. Does that mean I can get a report now, and then another one in Jan, or would I have to wait until next November?

A. Try http://www.freecreditreport.com or just search google for "free credit report." It's 1 free report per company per 12 months (not calendar year).
