I have a two part question Wireless Credit Card Terminals?

Edwards Finance > Credit Card

Q. I have a two part question Wireless Credit Card Terminals? 1. Does anyone know if there is a way to process credit cards via a wireless phone? Besides the voice authorization feature. 2. Does anyone know if there are any credit card terminals normally used in storefronts that run on batteries and can be connected to a cell phone? I can't afford to buy a "Wireless terminal" and was kind of hoping to find one that will work with my wireless phone. I do a lot of on-location portraits, thus I am not in my studio to process the cards. If I could take the machine with me that would be great. Most of the time however the shoots are outdoors thus I can not use the electricity of my customer to power the terminal. Any help?

A. - have a wireless phone system. Where are you located, or more specifically who is your wireless carrier? - I have seen many cell based CC swipe devices at trade shows. They work just like the traditional type. Another method would probably be, although I haven't researched it, using a wireless web capable Palm type device or cell phone and a web based CC system such as www.propay.com. I believe many of the CC processors have a web based "virtual" terminal for processing cards. If they have a cell capable page, you're all set. The first result that came up when I searched Google for "credit card terminal cell phone" (without the quotes) showed several options. If you check the voltage on the terminal you should be able to power it with batteries. Every one that I have seen uses some type of 110v adapter and I would guess the actual voltage is probably 8 or 12v DC. A large lantern battery of the proper voltage should work. Check with the manufacturer. - I have a Propay account however they dont' have a WAP accesable web site. I have yet to find a company that is WAP accessable. I know there are a lot that are WEB enabled, but nothing WAP enabled. I will check the Google search you mentioned though. - Go ahead and take a look at http://www.arrowposa.net We are still tweeking the system a bit, especially the web page but it will show you the system anyway.
