The United States Post Office Discriminates in hiring practicesQ. I am writing to you out of necessity because of a situation that has become frustrating in the hiring process in your system. I truly feel I am being overlooked for an employment opportunity because of a conviction that was over seven years ago. I would like to start off by saying that I made a mistake and used bad judgement in what lead up to being prosecuted but I never served jail time and have bettered myself by seeking counselling and having lead a clean life by doing what I'm supposed to do ever since. My probation ended two years ago of which took me through a five year process of becoming a better person and learning a lot about myself. A. I was raised with decent values from wonderful parents, have good character and seek an opportunity with becoming a mail carrier for the United States Post Office. I have had interest in this for quite some time and have stayed in touch with Ms Carol Geene for over a year trying to get in as a casual. Last summer I took the Postal Exam in two different areas and although I didn't get a top score, I have been patiently waiting for my score level to be called up. I scored identical points of 78.10 for both the Paterson Post Office Installation Entrance Exam and the Newark Post Office Installation Entrance Exam. Last year I spoke to Ms. Geene and mentioned to her that I would like a casual position in the mean time to get an idea of what it might be like working as a carrier. At the time, I needed and still do need the income as I have had trouble seeking employment since September 11th when I was no longer able to support my income as a Limousine Driver because of the economy and less people going to and from the airports of which made up most of my rides with the commission I made from that job. I also was responsible for paying my expenses such as gas, tolls, parking and other items as a private contractor of which I no longer could afford in maintaining. If this "letter" is an example of how you are looking for a job, you need a reality check. All your letter shows is how nuts you are. No one, and I mean NO ONE will hire you as you present yourself. Hell, anyone would be afraid to have you in the same office as them. btw I followed your netcop routine and reported you to Abuse for calling me a piece of s##t over in Randy's group. The Bucharest Congress succeeded in establishing a UPU policy on extraterritorial offices of exchange. Congress recognized that "an extraterritorial office of exchange (ETOE) is defined as an office or facility operated by or in connection with a postal operator outside its national territory, on the territory of another country, and that these offices are established by postal operators for commercial purposes to draw business in markets outside their own national territory". The details can be found in resolution C 44/Bucharest 2004 (see link below), wherein it is clearly established that items sent from ETOEs are considered as commercial items not subject to the Acts of the UPU, unless the destination country provides otherwise. Destination postal administrations have the possibility of applying their own policies with respect to the acceptance of ETOE items, either under domestic rates or under terminal dues rates. Member countries must announce their policy to all other UPU members. The International Bureau publishes member policies based on the answers to the questionnaire below.
