True Credit Report Stuff

Edwards Finance > Credit Report

Q. I had received some info on the NG that said that you can get your bill paying activities for public utilities added to your credit history. This is *definetly* true as I called and received the following information. Bell Atlantic of PA {Phone Company} - will report your good payment history to an agency after one year of service. PECO Energy {Electric} - when asked, they said that they already report both good and bad payment histories. (I'm not 100% sure I believe him, so I will get my husband to call again tonight to confirm this:) Comcast Cablevision {Cable} - didn't know what I was talking about but did offer to send out a letter of recommendation stating our history. That's it. We live in an apartment and don't pay gas or water. Hope this helps anyone looking to establish a credit history. Does anyone give me some advices ?

A. That's great! It's *very* good to have GOOD info about your utilities on your credit report because they are often the bills that aren't paid on time. Also, you can have your landlord write a statement about your rent payment history. It won't be on your credit report, but it will add to your good standing if you include it when applying for a credit card. Make sure they write it on letterhead with the apartment logo and address
