Electrical Engineering schools in Canada and the U.SEdwards Finance > Electrical Engineering Q. I have a choice to study electrical engineering in either Canada or the United States. My high school math and physics marks are in the high-80's and should get me into most schools- I hope. Can any one here suggest where I might find information that would allow me to compare various electrical engineering programs in North America? A. -The Gourman Report ranks undergrad programs in the United States but some Canadian schools are also mentioned. Check out this link at: http://www3.bc.sympatico.ca/info/ee-prog.htm -Now in its 10th Edition, the Gourman Report has been around for nearly 30 years, long before other rankings like U.S. News came along. Dr. Gourman's criteria is proprietary but it is interesting to note that, with a few slight variations, the list of top 50 in the U.S. News looks a lot like Gourman's list of top 50. It would be nice to know all the fine details of Gourman's methodology but I really don't care either way. Just because the details are not apparent does not make the report fraud. -In the many years this report has been around, people have asked Jack Gourman to spill the beans on how he makes these rankings. He won't. It is known he never conducted the usual reputation surveys. But how else could you rank undergrad schools? The obvious conclusion is that he just made the rankings up in the late 70's.
