My new office telephone ?Q. I moved offices yesterday. Along with the usual time wasting requirements of setting up, etc was the process of learning my new office phone number. My new phone number is also a prime number! Cool, innit? A. How many digits are phone numbers in Aussie-town? Also, is it a prime ith or without area/city/town code (if applicable). With this information plus the country code of Austria I will have the power to RULE THE WORLD. Our company was one of the first in town to get a fully computerized digital telephone exchange installed. (Rohm system) Individual phones could be given "features" or have such features removed by a technician using a portable Texas Instrument keyboard with modem from the individual phone line. This was in about 1980, when personal computers and modems were a still rarity even in offices. Once I saw the opportunity in this, I naturally requested some additional services for my own phone from our office administrator. The tech came to my office with his keyboard/modem and logged onto the digital switch. Naturally, I was looking over his shoulder and memorized the password and number dialed. Well uh, having installed locks for a living, I have not come accross one that is NOT reversable. Most do it yourself door locks are easily reversable by removing two screws and switching the knob assemblies to opposite sides of the door. The heavy duty commercial types take a little more work and may require the key, but they are reversable. While mortise type locks (as opposed to the cylindrical type)are reversable themselves, they do require the appropriate holes to be redrilled on the opposite sides of the door.
