Texas Free Credit ReportEdwards Finance > Credit Check Q. Client goes to used car dealership where all kinds of signs, ads in the Auto Trader magazines, and their business cards (I am holding one right now) clearly read "BAD CREDIT OK", eluding that they can finance anyone with good or bad credit. Client took a copy of his credit report in with him (to hopefully not add another inquiry to his report if they couldn't work with him) and asked if they could work with what he had on his report. The salesman asked his manager to look at it, and the manager said there would be no problem with what he saw by looking at the report, and to proceed with the process, but that they'd still have to pull a credit report on-site (which turned up nothing different), to which the client gave permission for them to do, thinking that he was on his way to buying a vehicle. After pulling the new credit report, and adding yet ANOTHER inquiry on it, they turned him down, saying they can't help him, and referred him to a guy they "work" with who could "fix" the guys credit by paying him a sum of money, and that he should come back afterwards. Is this false advertising, or are they using deceptive trade practices? Do you think, based on the loose information provided, that the client has a case, or can hold them to their what they are advertising in their ads, signs, and on their cards? BTW... This company is in Texas. A. Putting all previously said stuff aside.......if he was denied credit, I believe he is entitled to see a copy of his credit report---for free. I would look into this. I think all big 3 credit agencies must give him a free report. At least he might get a free credit report for his trouble. Maybe the car dealership never even checked his credit, i.e. it was a total lie, or fraud, or misrepresentation. In any case, suing probably wouldn't accomplish anything. He might more satisfaction writing to the customer service division of the car company and the better business bureau of his state. Contrary to the guy being a deadbeat, he looks more like an average person, maybe even a little better.
