States without Income Tax or, etc. ?

Edwards Finance > Income Tax

Q. States without Income Tax or, etc. ? I'm in the process of acquiring a government job that will post me overseas. All of my family as scattered to other states and I'm the only one left in Southern California, so beyond it being where I'm registered to vote, I really don't have any ties to the area or the state. WHEN (not if, I'm thinking positive) I received a confirmed offer, I will be moving to the area of the training center, with the government packing and store all of my belongings until I'm shipped to my post. I have to declare my state domicile and, since I will have completely divested myself of this popstand, I could choose any state I want. Right? It would be nice to choose a state that does not have any income tax OR one that doesn't count foreign earned income. I can think of four states that don't have income tax; Washington, Nevada, Florida, and Connecticut, but I don't know anything about foreign income and what limitations there might be. Can anyone help me?

A. -1) Don't forget Alaska. 2) If this is a Defense Dept. job and you're considered military (and you already have the job by now), you're already locked into a state of residence - it's the state that was your residence when you enlisted/were commissioned. 3) You don't have to establish a domicile in another state. You only have to make certain that you have sufficiently abandoned the old one. -I didn't think that Texas had an income tax either.
