Free (beer | speech) SIP PBX servers?Q. Since the free beer Axon PBX I'm using to build an SIP PBX server is missing a feature that I need (namely, include a user in a group extension although he's registered on a remote commercial VoIP provider so as to be notified of calls on his GSM cellphone), I need to look at alternatives. Besides the following, do you know of free beer/speech softwares to build a PBX server? A. We are having a "play" with the SIP & VOIP features within latest release of CGatePro Server v5.0.1 Alpha 32bit running on OpenVMS 7.3-2. We have setup a "reception" mailbox, with an alias of "0". This reception account has been configured to run the "reception.sppi" PBX script after 4secs "if no answer". I have registered a Polycom phone as "Reception" and have confirms it can dial OK. Now when we dial "0" from another Polycom phone, the reception phone rings, but after 4 seconds we are then met with the error tone. I have changed the RealTime rules on the account to divert to Voicemail after 4 seconds, and that works OK. If I divert to "service" after 4 seconds it errors again, however if I "self call", which is set to divert to "Service" within the Realtime config on the account, it works!!!! So I'm well confused. The only difference I can see between Reception & Service which doesn't work and Voicemail, which does, it that the first two are .SPPI files, when the later is an .SPPR file. I don't know if that makes a difference? I have cut an extract out of the log file (see below), with max logging enabled. For info, sauron.intra.gap.co.uk and gap-international.com are the same machine. I can see an error in the log extract, that states "SIP/2.0 500 failed to load PBX application code", That's not going to work. That's an include file, not an application. Consider specifying 'pbx' for that setting. What is stange is that on a Wintel box, running 5.0c6, I can see reception.sppr and reception.sppi, yet on this OpenVMS platform I only have reception.sppi I don't suppose you can point me in the direction of some documentation that would help in the setup of the SIP/VOIP functionality, and the workings of these .sppi/.sppr files? In 5.0 GA, the "reception" application was renamed the "pbx" application. Generally speaking, it probably makes sense to create a "pbx" account, then have it use the "pbx" application. If you have a FRESH install, CGatePro now creates not only the Postmaster account, but also the PBX account. We are (for now?) reluctant to create the PBX account on each system, as not everybody has a PBX-enabling license, and for some folks running on the edge of their licenses, auto-creating of an additional account can make them non-compliant. So, if your system is not "fresh", you need to do the following to create the "default" setup: a) create the account "pbx" b) assign the Domain Admin right to that account, and assign the CanImpersonate right, too. c) assign the 200 alias to that account. d) switch to the RealTime settings and set: If No Answer -> 0 sec -> Start -> "pbx".
