Refurbished phone ?Q. After losing my original SCH-8500, I was issued a refurbished 8500. I can't tell the difference and I have had no problems during the 2 months I have had it. If you are unhappy with Sprints offer to replace your phone with a refurbished model, I would say check your warranty. Since the phone failed on its own, Sprint/Samsung should be held to their warranty agreement. A. The problem with the warranty, as always, is that it says "it will not cover defects or damages resulting from accident, misuse..." Then it's their word versus mine and you know who wins. Personally I'm not happy with a refurb phone, however it looks like that is my only choice. I think the average period for obsolescence exceeds the average time between equipment failures. There should be no higher failure rate between new and used phones. In fact, there's an argument that "infant mortality" makes the new phone somewhat likelier to fail. A refurbished phone seems reasonable to me --- you lost or broke a used phone, right? "Refurbished" means that someone returned it, it was checked, and then put back into a refurb box. Enjoy the phone! It's been tested in the field... Yep the warranty on a refurb is 180 days. I just received mine on Aug. 17th. I had purchased a new phone in June. It had the Analog bug. So I'm screwed out of 9 months of warranty. But at least I have a phone that works in analog and won't leave me stranded on the side of the road again. But now the charger does not work properly with the new phone. (buy the way, make sure they send you a refurbed phone kit. Not a refurb 8500 single) Now I'm having trouble getting Sprint to get this fixed. And to top it all off. I was promised on not 1, not 2 but 3 different occasions I would recieve a new phone. I've been messing with this since June. And it ain't fun. If I can find another phone I like and another company with a plan like mine. I'm switching. Over the years of reading this news group, I have not read of ANYONE who received a refurbished phone complaining that it wasn't as good as their original. I agree your chances are better with the 'refurb' than a new one! Likewise with an insurance replacement, I got a referbished phone and I got to pay a $35 deductable to boot. My old phone model was no longer available but my refurbished replacement has been working fine since last October. Recently, I got my first refurbished phone (2760) and feel that it is better in all ways, especially voice quality, than any of the three, or so, new 2760's previously used.
Other Questions: I`ve been looking at Asterix and just wondered if anybody else had tryed this? It looks quite cool but just wanted some feedback on its reliability? Best Way to Answer a Business Phone? Many companies today answer their phone with a long winded answer. As a customer, I find it annoying and distracting.
