Any phone systems that are worth installing?

Edwards Finance > Phones

Q. I have the opportunity to bid on a four million dollar home. The phone wiring is already being installed by the electricians. Any phone systems you all want to plug in here? And remember, can a person like me install it? I have never done a phone system before. Any suggestions?

A. I have the opportunity to bid on a four million dollar home. The phone wiring is already being installed by the electricians. Any phone systems you all want to plug in here? And remember, can a person like me install it? I have never done a phone system before. Any suggestions? It is a KSU driven system that has all the features of a Proprietary digital phone system, and most of the convenience of a PABX. It comes as 3 line 8 extension capable, and can be expanded to 8 lines and 24 extensions. You can use feature rich proprietary Panasonic keyphone units on some extensions and analog phones on others. You can interface it with a background music source for music on hold, and it also has a paging output to go into a commercial sound system although I imagine a creative technician could figure out how to interface with a home stereo distribution system. You can even combine an analog telephone device and a proprietary phone on the same extension. The proprietory Panasonic phone will be on, say extension 208, and the analog phone, which plugs to a port at the back of the phone, will default to extension 108. I can't imagine anyone installing a phone system without any background in a particular system. You might be able to purchase a system from whoever you think you can buy it from, but they do not come with any manual or programming instruction, just the hardware. The only way to obtain the manual is from the manufacturer themselves. Even if you have the manual from other sources (Like TEch-man.com), it will be close to impossible to understand, no matter how smart one is. You are thinking of the 'digital' higher end systems with the extra device port on the key set. The 624 does not work that way. You can take an el cheapo "Y" and plug the analog device in parallel to the key set with the 616 and 624. You can even wire a different jack off of the same extension. You just can't use both devices at once. For the 624, yes it is the same extension. Same with the 616. Only the high end certification required systems come that way. Panasonic, Vodavi, Nitsuko, etc and many others have small to medium systems that come fully documented. Connector diagrams, step by step programming descriptions etc... Will work with proprietary keyphones as well as generic analog telephones, and you can even combine a proprietary phone and an analog phone device on the same extension.
