toshiba telephone system installation. How?

Edwards Finance > Phones

Q. I am trying to do some toshiba digital phone installation. My experience with telecom only goes as much as csu/dsu installation/testing for T1 and T3. I dont have experience with digital phone system. I'm wondering if the group can tell what do I need to do to get the job done. If it's too complicated, I'll get a real phone technician. Here's the spec. # of Co lines: 4 # of phones to be installed: 8 Toshiba phone model: 1010 and 1020. Phone company already got the line signal to the door and there is already one jack installed and working. I need to put in all the wires and jacks. What do I need to do/get at this point.

A. Don't take it personally but you may need help. ;-) Sometimes you can plug things in and it will work fine for your needs without any special programming, but for most small businesses these days they expect more from the system so it may need adjustments. First thing to note, the model number of the phone is not the model number of the system. The numbers you gave are also not complete. They might be DKT or EKT1010, and 1020's. The significant thing is the model number of the system itself. (DK280, DK424, DK16, DK40, Strata IVe, etc.) Each one of them has differences from the others, even the number of wires per jack, types of connectors on the cabinet, etc. I went by my friend's office, and got more detail spec. The system is Toshiba Strata DK40(Is it different from DK40i listed on toshiba's website?). The phones are DKT-2020-SD. Verizon's work stopped at punch down block. Where do I go from there? The plug on the phone itself shows it uses four wires. He has one phone number, four lines, 7 phones and a fax. Verizon will roll over to next line if the initial line is busy. Two more questions here are, how would the switch respond to this type of system and how do I connect the fax? You're going to need to take the cover off the DK 40 to tell us what cards are inside it. Look for coding like RCOU or RSTU, that kind of stuff, printed on the circuit boards. They'll be plug-in cards on to the "motherboard" in the system. Specifically look to the right side inside the cabinet for what look like white modular plug-ins. Also, do you have the 25 pair cable (diameter somewhat smaller than my pinkie) coming out of the cabinet and punched down on a block? Without that your coming to have to get one and puch it down. Also, don't be expecting to do anything fancy as far as programming. The DK40 can do it, but trying to explain it in a newsgroup would be kinda' tough.
