Q. Can someone answer some of these questions and/or point me to the right links? 1. I am under the impression that Americans carry too much debt. Would this be an accurate assessment? I am under the impression the economy of American has been fueled by this debt, and had been able to stay afloat. People have borrowed too much money and they can't afford to pay it back. People are living paycheck to paycheck because of this. I assume with prominance of advertising for bankruptcy services that this is so also. a. If this assessment is correct, why is it so? Have personal incomes not risen enough for the average American, those who aren't among the wealthiest in America? What are the numbers here? b. Or, is it due to the fact that Americans are buying up too much stuff they don't need? What is the borrowing going to cover? 2. If there is too much debt, then what is going to happen eventually?
