Tapi to PBX??Q. Can I use TAPI to dial a PBX based phone? Do I need a special modem. What PBX based phone are you refering to? You'll need a specific TSP (TAPI Service Provider) that supports this PBX. You should contact the manufacturer of the PBX. A. Most PBXs supports TAPI. Either throuh a logical link via the LAN to the PBX or via a direct connection to the phone. The actual implementation will vary between PBXs. What PBX would you like to connect to? no you don't need a modem. all you need is the driver (provider) that came with your pbx system on the machine you want to use. All the tapi does here is provide a generic interface for such a driver. Sometimes the connection is direct serial cable from the computer to the phone. Often the connection is actually a network connection from the computer to the PBX server. The PBX server then has connections to all the phones. Yes, but most of the time, only from the PBX to the TAPI Server. (Third Party). Otherwise, it would be a connection from the Client to the local phone. (First Party). Most of the current PBX I have seen that support TAPI support the Third Party mode, which in my opinion is the prefered way.
