Panasonic phone system programming ?Q. Does anybody here know anything about programming panasonic phone systems? I bought a KXTD1232 and TVS100 system (used) for our new house, and I'm having a tough time figuring out how to program a few of the features (the manuals suck). Can somebody who knows something about panasonic phone systems offer me a few tips? A. I don't have a Panasonic KSU (yet) so I cannot vouch for the usefulness, but several people on the JDS mailing list have had positive comments on this program. For those of you who have a Panasonic PBX system, you REALLY should check out this program. I purchased it. It costs $50.00 and it works a treat! You can totally re-program your Panasonic in a few minutes. To say nothing os having your program on disk in case your phone system gets zapped. The TV100, though pricey, is a lot of fun to use for both my family and my business. The manuals suck and the software out there is lacking. Panasonic has a cheesy DOS programming client that they refuse to give to anyone buy ceritfied installers. Go figure. Anyway, you need to read through the Installation manual and get familiar with all the features. It is huge, but worth it. Then dig through the papers and look for a pamphlet (20 pages maybe) titled "Installation Manual - Version 3 Addendum" This has all the info on teh notorious Area 990 programming. Area 990 is programmed with 1's and 0's (On/Off) and it the most powerful register because you can tweak so many behaviors. Read through it and pay special attention to items related to voice mail routing. Setups like these are tricky. I had to jump through hoops to have my home lines roll over to voice mail boxes directly and have my business lines get answered by the auto attendant/voice menu. Anyway, I'll try to point you in the right direction. You can use the $50 software for Windows though I just used a display phone. A little Tedious, but not bad once you get the hang of it. Only reason I later broke down to buy the $50 win software is to enter my System Speed Dial list (entering names with a jog dial is hell) The Tv100 needs a Vt100 terminal and uses nice menus. Why they couldn't do this with teh TD1232?? Maybe the -4 firmware due out any month now will fix that.
