Panasonic phone systems ?

Edwards Finance > Phones

Q. I'm pretty sure I've seen some a few people talk about doing phone system installations as part of their work, anyone here have any experience with Panasonic, particularly the KXTA624 model and the TVS50 voicemail unit? Is this a pretty good unit? Is there something better out there that's in the same price range? I'm looking at putting one in my office and would appreciate any input on both units. One question I am wondering about in particular is, can different telephone lines have different outgoing messages for voicemail and auto attendant? Also, does anyone have installation and user manuals for both in PDF they'd be willing to send me?

A. I have been doing phone systems too for years. I really like the BIZFON because it's plug and play. I even sell it over the internet, although professional installation is a plus. Panasonic makes a good product, but very difficult to program. The manuals are hundreds of pages long and use their own terms. By contrast, the BIZFON is voice prompted with a help button. It comes standard with auto attendant and voice mail built in, where the Panasonic does not. The only draw back to the BIZFON is that each station requires a power transformer. But that enables two wire installation. Check out http://www.heselectronics.com/mfr/bizfon.htm Their home page is http://www.bizfon.com There is a phone system manuals company, but typical manuals cost from them is $big per. You will find that support and documentation and attitude in the phone equipment is a lot different than in the alarm business. I don't know i I ever sent Jim copies of the 624 manuals to PDFize, but you could ask him. I have been installing Panasonic phone for about 9 years. I have been very happy with the phone products. Very few service related call backs. The voice mail is lame. Even Panasonic doesn't use their own. Shame on them. The programming is not the issue, its the lack of features. Well the programming is difficult unless you understand phone systems. My biggest complaint is the user's book, it really needs to be re-written in easy language that an end user can understand. I think that you have ignored the *** really *** biggest problem with using Panasonic telephone equipment. When was the last time that you ever really got through to technical support on the telephone? Personally, I don't think that they actually *have* a technical support deprartment. I don't know of anyone who has ever actually got through to them. It has been like that for years and years and for that reason alone, I would never entrust my customers business to the likes of a company who has so little concern about the companys that use their equipment. I have spoken with Panasonic customer support. It just takes forever to get through. They have a seperate tech support for their certified dealers. Those that paid to take the Panasonic certification course to install the digital systems. You don't have to take the course to buy and install the regular hybrids like the KXTA. Just the KXTD systems. However, quite often there is tech support offered by the distributor of Panasonic systems that is much quicker to talk to. For instance I buy most of my Panasonic systems from Teledynamics. I needed to default a voice mail system a while back so I called Teledynamics, and received a message back a little later with detailed instructions on how to do that. Also, if you look through telephone trade rags like "The Mart," or "Telecom Gear," you will see a host of companies who will be glad to sell you Panasonic equipment and offer free technical support. (along with a lot of other lines)
