Good SOHO phone system?

Q. I want some kind of small home office phone system for use in my house. Anyone have experience with it? Or can recommend something else but with same features..... 2 line...corldess phone option... built in answering machine?

A. That system has a lot behind it. It gets really good reviews, even from the Techs at Siemens, who make a competitive product. I use the Siemens system, and am only moderately happy with the range.The features are nifty, and I use them all. The Panasonic has better range, a Tech there told me they tested one out at half a mile from their second story test lab. It lacks a few features of the Siemens, it just depends on how many bells and whistles you care about. Maybe not, the base is a pretty hefty item. You can download the manual from the Panasonic site, and see if it is described there. I studied the manual for each system to make my decision, it was much more enlightening than the stupid comparison charts at the merchant sites. A wall mounted shelf might suffice. I'm accommodating my range issues with the siemens system by building a phone niche in the hall, closer to the center of the house. That gets it out of the kitchen too, which is generally a bad place for a $400.00 phone. :) We have had good results with the 2000B and 4000B Panasonic. These are not wall mountable but I have built a small shelf before for a similar phone. It does allow you to have the KX-TGA420B which is a cordless base unit that is wall mountable with a corded handset and speaker phone. It seems to work at more range than just the handset.
