Telephone activation brokenQ. First, the version in question is Office Basic 2003 OEM. I recently had to replace my motherboard. I guess there are two issues: 1. I don't know if MS will even let me re-activate, because it's an OEM version. Only the MB has changed, but will that kill it? 2. Office activation doesn't work. The online activation fails as expected, with the warning "you have activated up to the limit for your Product Key." But if I try the telephone activation, the dialog just disappears. I've completely uninstalled Office and re-installed, but the problem remains. A. Some OEM Office versions are tied to the motherboard BIOS, so if you changed the motherboard, you will no longer be able to use the software and will have to buy a new copy. expected, with the warning "you have activated up to the limit for your Product Key." But if I try the telephone activation, the dialog just disappears. I've completely uninstalled Office and re-installed, but the problem remains. Is this a 'REAL' Office CD, or a burned one? Sounds like the manufacturer is installing same copy on multiple PC's! Who is the manufacturer? The real question here is why does pressing "Next" after selecting "I want to activate the software by telephone" make the Microsoft Office 2003 Activation Wizard dialog disappear? Can anyone imagine why this might happen? If I could get to contacting Microsoft about it, the other question would be answered... use the Office Online web based newsreader here: http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx In Office System 2003 applications: Help/Assistance Pane/open Communities
