Legacy Nortel systems vs Nortel VOIP

Edwards Finance > Phones

Q. Can anyone let me know where I can find addtional information?

A. I cannot speak for my company, only from my own experience: If this ain't a trick question, then good freakin' luck. I've been after this info for months. We have 50+ locations, but no maintenance contracts, so I can't get attention from the "authorized" industry. COAMS seems a likely place to go, but that aint' the easiest, either. Best prices and support (what little support has been needed for 20+ years) has been the gray, grey, or "unauthorized" market (boos and hisses are heard). They're trying, but it isn't easiest for them, either. Nortel's website is so protective as to be ..... Commentary? What type of information are you looking for? The "legacy" M1 line is also the Succession line - same software runs on the CPU's. If you would put a little context around what you're looking for, there are probably many out there that can point you in the right direction. You have had the same nortel systems (50+ of them) for 20+ years and this is just one customer and are not a gray market reseller. Man, talk about hanging in there. I wished we had companies like that here in Europe. I know from my own experience that only little technical support or service is needed once a system is installed. Paying for maintenance contracts is paying a lot of money just for "insurance" reasons. A good thing if you have plenty of money or you cannot take any risk at all. We are trying to help European customers with Nortel equipment that authorized suppliers do not supply anymore (like M2616D). Not because these authorized suppliers cant get it but because they do want it! I believe the only reason is to push customers to an expensive upgrade they dont really need or want. So let customers boo and hiss. As long as they pay the price they might be kicking the wrong dog.
