Q. I am hoping someone can help with this as soon as possible. I am installing a Bogen Paging unit 3 zone and I am trying to interface it into a Norstar Phone system. If you plug a regular telephone into the Bogen pager...upon picking up the phone you get the "two fast beeps" dial zone 00 for all page and I am getting the All page over the 70 volt speakers in the lobby of my theatre. However, I cannot find a loop on the norstar system that I can interface to pick up the page line. I have another theatre where when you hit Page, LINE 028 is used to pick up the Bogen Pager and you get the talkback tones over the Norstar system. I cannot get LINE 028 to pick up the Bogen pager here at all. I also am having problems as to WHERE on the terminal blocks I should put the line to the Bogen Pager. I need a closed loop that when opened, will activate the Bogen Pager using a common line through the Norstar system. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

A. Line 028 will be the 4th circuit on trunk card 2 in the MICS. It wires to the black/brown pair of the lowest amphenol on the MICS main cabinet. I have a wiring chart on our web site under the link for Reference Guides. Connect co port 8 (line 28) to your Bogen input. Program line 28 on each of your phones, and put the "page" button cap on that button. You almost certainly can't do this, without, at the very least, completely replacing the software load, which is unlikely to be cheap. You might try calling Nortel and asking them... it's that sort of question. I can only remember ther 800 number, which won't do you much good. They're in RTP NC, among other paces, you might try +1 919 directory assistance. You need to contact NORTEL about these changes. They must also have tested their hardware for China's federal regulations. Was the system purhased in North America and shipped there? Tones are synthesized in software so it should not be a major problem for NORTEL, they should be able to refer you to an agent that serves China. The system was purchased in Canada and shipped there. It was then connected to the phones lines I ordered in China. I think China has already approved such a system since I noticed that the Canadian Consular office in Guangzhou also uses such system (I saw the phones in their office). When I call the Canadian consulate, I also notice that the "ringing tone sounds like the one in North America when transfered. What I am really hoping to do is to "adjust" the settings by just going into the configuration. I just don't want the trouble of changing the software just for the ringing tone Wouldn't it it possible for Nortel to design an "International Version" for the Norstar which allows the users to select the features such as ringback tone, ringing cadence etc. that is common in their country? I hear there are DMS-100 switches in other countries such as China, but have never encountered a North American style ringback tone there.
