Unity on Nortel Meridian PBX ?Q. Does the Meridian PBX have a audit or station testing function, that can be turned on/off at a digital port level? I have a customer with a Meridian PBX. We sell a wireless phone system that is connected to the Meridian PBX at the digital port level. (two wire port) If I power cycle the wireless system it can take down the Meridian PBX. A big problem or my customer. I have other customers with Lucent, Rolm PBX's and if I power cycle the wireless system, nothing happens to the other PBX's. Why? A. I have been told that a station level audit or station testing function of the Meridian PBX may be set on or off or adjusted to stop this from happening. Is this true? If so how do I get this done? daily routines have in them load 30 that tests and disables suspect Tn's, that is in load 17 under DROL... Does it just disable those digital ports you're using for integration or does it crash the whole switch? If it crashes the whole switch, thatıs some funky integration. There is a routine that runs once a day. Under MIDN its LD 30. This does a basic signaling test of all digital phones. If it doesn't get a response from a phone, it disables the port, and prints out a flag. This feature can be disabled, but only system-wide. Its a great diagnostic tool so people may not go for that. The Meridian manual for the digital line card (NT8D02), says that the DC power can be removed from all 16 loop interfaces if one of the TCM loops can't provide "the proper signals" on the phone line - possibly a frame sync signal from the terminal. Maybe someone with practical experience can confirm if this is what happens. If so, could the problem be prevented by plugging in a digital phone before power off, or maybe just disconnecting the equipment? If you disconnect 150 digital ports all at one time, it will lock up the Meridian shelf controller. Like if you have a cable cut or disconnected.
