NEC PBX digital adapter ?

Q. I'm looking for a device that connects to a digital station line on a NEC PBX and converts it to an analog jack. I've found devices from Konexx and Northwest Extension that do this for Nortel and Lucent switches but nothing for NEC.

A. It depends on which NEC PBX you are referring to: The Electra Professional & the Electra Elite key telephone systems make use of an SLT adaptor to convert digital ports to analog; I'm not aware of a similar part for the 2000 & 2400 PBXs. For the 1000/2000 you can get an analog port adapter that plugs into the bottom of your digital phone. Programming determines if the two ports can be used simultaneously or not. Here is a brief hardware description of our equipment followed by the question I have. My company is attempting to install a MultiVOIP 400 voice over IP system in each office to allow free long distance phone calls from office to office using our T1 internet connections. But we are having a small problem interfacing the NEC PBX phones and the MultiVOIP unit. NEC ElectraElite 192 Phone System (using DTU-16D-2(WH) TEL phones). Master MultiVOIP 400 v3.01A Firmware Dated Jun 2, 1999 Channel 1 = FXS connected to typical analog phone Channel 2 = FXO connected to extension 308 of our phone system. Channel 3 = n/c Channel 4 = n/c Slave MultiVOIP 400 v3.01C Firmware Dated Aug 31, 1999 Channel 1 = FXS connected to typical analog phone Channel 2 = n/c Channel 3 = n/c Channel 4 = n/c Currently both MultiVOIP?s are installed at our same office using a 10/100 network hub between them. I would like to get the master to function with our PBX before the slave is sent to our sister office in Asia. WHAT WORKS: using an analog phone on either unit and calling the other?s analog phone. Also using either analog phone I can connect to the PBX system via ext 308 and call any phone in our phone system. WHAT DOESN?T WORK: using a PBX phone to call the any MultiVOIP (master or slave). I can pick up and dial ext 308, get the second dial tone from the MultiVOIP (master) system, but it does not seem to ?hear? the numbers I dial after that ? just a dial tone, eventually followed by a busy signal and disconnect. WHAT I SUSPECT: the phones (PBX) are not providing the pulses or dial tones the MultiVOIP can understand. But using an analog on the FXS ports I can call any PBX phone in the office, its just the PBX phones cannot call back.
