MobileOffice coverage question?

Edwards Finance > Phones

Q. Does 14.4k Mobile Office (either #777 or direct to an ISP) work when roaming on Non-Verizon 1xRTT or IS95 systems? So far I have one data point, and that says no. The Mobile-Mobile maps show the coverage areas where all digital features (Mobile Office, VoiceMail indications, SMS, etc.) can be expected to work, right? Do any of those features work when roaming?

A. Mobile-Mobile coverage shows only were Verizon native coverage exists. Significant portions of the M2M maps, particularly in the upper-Midwest, Great Plains, and Mountain states, are analog coverage but still properly bill for M2M. There may be exceptions, but if you are in the M2M footprint, you can count on nothing more than voicemail indicators. And in many cases, you are not told if you have one message or 1000. Only that you have at least one VM waiting. Refer the following map for a representation of Verizon's digital coverage. Nationwide: http://www.mountainwireless.com/vzdigital.htm Depending on the roaming partner used while on the extended network, your features will vary. To be safe, expect nothing more than the ability to make and receive voice calls. Other people have reported nearly seamless transitions with no lacking features while on Alltel's digital networks. Western Wireless digital has voicemail indication, and caller-ID. yes, you need at least duigital coverage, it will not work on analog, extended network #777 may or may not work, depends on who the provider is.. But you should at least be able to direct dial an isp on the extended network.
