Microsoft Office 2003 Activation ?

Edwards Finance > Phones

Q. I am trying to activate an OEM copy of Microsoft Office 2003. We have recently upgraded the machine that it was installed on so we are now trying to re-install it, but because it has been on the machine before, when you try to activate it over the net, an error comes up to say it has been activated before so try using telephone activation. However, when I click back, and use the option to activate using telephone then click next, the activation window disappears and it returns to Word, or Excel or whatever I opened the activation wizard in.

A. I cannot even phone the activation telephone number to ask someone there as the numbers are not listed, as the screen which tells me the number to phone never opens up!! I have tried unistalling and re-installing, but this doesn't work! http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;326851 Activation and Registration of a Microsoft Product why would you use office on the net? Just activate it when not online and block the url for the microsoft site using a firewall. The guy is asking for cracks in unrelated public newsgroups, I would be guessing (no actually, his history makes it a definite) that smarts is not his strong point. If you are attempting to do this legitimately, then just ring Microsoft and explain the situation. Office 2003 will allow two direct installations/activations with another permitted via phone activation. Read the doco that came with the software, and in particular your EUA - it explains it in there. You needed to buy volume licensing if you wanted to install on 5+ PCs. Then you get one serial number, and no need to activate it at all. Office in some countries allow Office to be installed on 2 different PCs as long as only one version is being used at a time (which in the case you described won't be the case - they'll be used at the same time in some cases), but Australia is not one of those countries. If you're company buys volume licenses, the software is much cheaper and you can use a licene from the office on your home PC. So next time your company buys software chuck in some money yourself and get it discounted.
