Meridian Phone System ?

Edwards Finance > Phones

Q. We have a Nortel phone system and I was hoping that someone could tell me how to unrestrict calls to the 1.866 toll free area. I am new the phone maintenance, so I do not know exactly the system we have, but here is what I know: The equipment in the closet says Norstar-PLUS, Modular ICS, and Meridian.

A. There could be a couple of reasons its not allowing 866. If you are using routing tables, you may need to add a destination code. Or, if the call is being denied because of filters, you need to add 1866 as an exception to the filter applied to the set and/or line. Its a little too complicated to explain step-by-step in a post because there are a lot of 'if this then that' issues. If the display says 'restricted call' when you try to call 1866, then it is a filter issue. If the call passes the KSU, but you get a recording from a telco, then it is probably a routing issue. You may as well add 1855, 1844, 1833, and 1822 also, so you don't have to do it later. You need to find out what filter is applied to the lines or sets that is restricting your calls, then make an exception for 1866. 128 ports (line or extension), with onboard 8-line trunk module and slots for additional trunk modules (still available from Nortel dealers). Software upgradable. Included software provides all of the standard Meridian features, can be expanded to include caller-id, voicemail, call-tracking, etc. Also included: wall mount bracket and cable router. This system is completely digital, and uses standard single-pair wiring for extensions. 4 sets: Norstar Meridian 7310 (25-button) 1 Busy Lamp Field attachment (for reception set -- shows which extensions are in use) 1 Analog Terminal Adapter (for attaching a standard set, fax machine, or modem as an extension with all phone system features).
