Connect meridian 1 to another PBX ?

Q. I have a question about the requirements to connect a Meridian 1 Option 11C Release 25.40 to a Matra 6501C PBX. The idea is to connect the PBX's with a singlemode fibre, and an ISDN30 in each PBX and use QSIG between the two. Is this possible, and what are the requirements at the Meridian site ? Do I need any hardware/software upgrades in the Meridian to use QSIG ? When I look at the software packages in OTM, none of the QSIG packages seems to be in place.

A. Depends on how you want to connect them and the features you want to get. You can just connect them as if they were talking to a CO - find a common supported CO between them and one side will need to be NET, the other USR. Note: The M1 will usually default to USR for most CO types so the Matra will need to be NET. This configuration should let you pass calls between the two PBX's but may not allow for CLID, CPND, call redirection or other messages. QSig would allow for this - QSig level 2 provided CLID/CPND and level 3 provides the call redirection and adds support for other messages as well - provided they're supported on the Matra. In order to get QSig, you will have to upgrade the M1 to Succession R3.0 (R26 in the old numbering scheme). Of course i would like to have as many features available as possible, but not at any cost. I have been told that an upgrade to "Enhanced Businnes Networking" software level is also required. Is this true ? I see you are from Denmark so I assume you will be using Etsi. You should have no problem setting up an e1 between the switches provided you have the cards etc. in both. If your M1 doesn't support Qsig, I would use Etsi pri which should be supported on both. Also as Colin states below, one end must be Network and the other User for the pri to work. Either protocal will provide name and number support.
