What's with all the echos?Q. About nine or ten years ago I had Access Cable's "AccessWave" internet service, and it was awful. We had to reset the modem several times each day, and the service would hang frequently. I think we were still with them when Eastlink purchased Access Cable (or Shaw or whoever the hell it was!). After I moved out six years ago, I swore I wouldn't go to Eastlink, and I had Aliant's HS Internet for a couple of years. I finally decided to give Eastlink a try when we moved to the Passage, and I've been completely satisfied. We've moved again, and I'm still with Eastlink (phone too), and I rarely - if ever - have problems. A. I'd suggest you re-consider Eastlink. I cringed when I made the decision to try them again, but I'm very happy that I switched. You may want to poll people in your area just in case there is a particular problem, but I doubt it. Incidentally, I am now 75% Aliant/Bell free! I think Aliant does what they do well (phone/cell), but they charge too much for it. The only Bell service I still have is satellite, and I'll be keeping that. My cell, internet and home phone are all with other companies now. It's not their service, it's speed. Eastlink has the fastest of the two, and as far as I know along with that comes mail problems. Don't forget, I've used their mail from work and "mail server down" is an occurrence that's happened more often with Eastlink than Aliant. But the real reason behind why I'm still with Aliant as my ISP? The bundle, Brian... its price can't be topped. That would have been Access Cable, wmd. Before that existed, Dartmouth Cable was the name of the game for cable service here in Dartmouth, but Charlie Keating bought that up and labled it "Access Cable." But to my knowledge Dartmouth Cable never had any ISP to offer, and if they did it was long before I took the deal with Aliant in 2000, formerly known as "MTT" and before that MT&T. That's the hitch for me, wmd. I like the reliability of Aliant's landline and cellular service, probably because it's a part of Bell Canada, a monster in the industry and a force to be reckoned with. And Eastlink - does not - have the same dependability or peace of mind with their phone service that Aliant offers.
