Software (hardware?) for switchboard operatorQ. We are a medium sized company planning to replace our telephony infrastructure and to use VoIP technology. But we want to keep the workplaces for the switchboard operators as they are today. That means we will not use IVR and ACD firstly and we don't want a huge callcenter solution. We want to have 4 or 5 operators receiving and forwarding calls. We are evaluating the Cisco VoIP solution, but we miss the "switchboard" part. The WebAttendant functionality is not good enough. A. you may want to look at Shoreline's Communication's voice system at www.goshoreline.com... Shoreline has been awarded "Best of Show" at Network Interop over all VoIP vendor and just got "Best of Breed" by InternetWeek... here is the conclusion of the review and the link to the whole review We always get picky when deciding which product should receive Best of Breed and which becomes an "also ran." Ultimately, the deciding factor in separating first place from last came down to how the PBX handled VoIP. The 3Com and COM2001 PBXs are both solid performers but lacked a little in the VoIP area. This left the door open for both Shoreline Communications and Vertical Networks to take honors in InternetWeek's first IP-PBX lab test. The ShoreGear Voice Switches from Shoreline Communications received a perfect score in all areas of our lab test. Other than the external voice-mail system, the ShoreGear switches set the standard for how an IP-PBX should perform. Awesome call control, high scalability (up to 1,200 ports) and great unified messaging placed it in front of the other PBXs. Coming in a very close second, and earning InternetWeek Approved status, is the InstantOffice PBX from Vertical Networks. With its digital phones and integrated Ethernet networking features, the Instant- Office PBX is poised to make a strong statement when Ethernet phones are commonplace. The only thing keeping it out of a tie is the eight- channel limitation on VoIP calls and scalability.
