Q. U.S. Individual Income Tax Return? On 2004, my friend filed his first U.S. Individual Income Tax Return 2003 with form 1040. This year, IRS sent him form 1040A. Did he file the correct form on 2004 ? If not, is it necessary and how to correct it ? What are the differences between them ?

A. Anyone may use the Form 1040 to prepare their return since it covers all possibilities. The Form 1040A contains limited types of income which may be reported on it as opposed to all types being reportable on the form 1040.
