Home Phone System ?Q. Can anyone reccommend what they condider to be the 'best' phone system for home/home office use? A. It would be nice to be able to incorporate the phone system with the home automation system (HomeVision & ACE) Many folks use the Panasonic PBXs. I've got a TD1232 with voice mail and I'm very happy with it. My biggest complaint is a few features are well, not done right like only being able to view the Caller ID log from one phone, etc. I'd say a TD816 would work well for your needs. Lots of Home Automation suppliers & dedicated telephone suppliers carry them at good prices. You might also look into some of the new systems coming out like the COmmunique from DSC which tries to integrate itself more into home/alarm control. The Bizphone might be OK for a home but I can't realy recomend it. It starts out as a 6 line 8 extention system with an expencive expantion unit avilable in the near future. I recently was hired to install one at a local busness and ended up pulling it out and replaced it with a standard "Keysystem". The Bizphone dosen't have line apperances ( line buttons and lights) the phones are just "enhanced" standard phones. They also require backup batterys and a power pack for each phone. The voice mail was well executed but that was about all that was. The auto fax detect never worked right as well. Also they want $300 a year for tech support. only the first 30 days are free. If you want to see what line is in use or holding don't buy the Bizphone you won't like it.
