So why doesn't everyone in Florida pay state income tax?Q. I have an interesting problem, and am wondering if any of you might have a creative solution. I inherited an IRA in 1996. I have it all set in my federal return. When I go to do my state return for Georgia, I cannot find a place where I can back that money out. It seems proper to me that I need to pay the federal portion on the money that was tax deferred, but since the money was earned in Florida, it does not make sense to me that Georgia should get a cut. A nice person with the GA dept of revenue told me that my only out would be if Florida taxed me, I can count that tax as a credit. But since Florida has not income tax, I had to pay it to Georgia.
