Overseas "tax free" income?
Q. I am wondering if anyone knows if money earned overseas (in russia), working for a canadian owned company, is taxable in the US? My husband is being asked to go to russia for 6 months, and the company is offering him a very handsome wage, that they claim is "tax free" I want to know if anyone knows what the IRS would do to that money when it was brought back into the US? Any help would be greatly appreciated. If the IRS is going to tax this income to shreds, then it is not worth him going overseas, so the answer to this is very important.
