How do you market an engineering company?

Q. I am an engineer working for an engineering company who specializes in railroad track design/consulting. We've never really marketed our company before, but would like to start. I would like to get ideas on how other engineering/consulting companies market themselves. Do you advertise? If so, in what publications? We normally do work for companies/industries, other engineering companies (as a sub-consultant), and railroads.

A. www.cenews.com has a monthly business section that addresses questions such as those that you were asking. Information is usually provided by related professional organizations as well. An option that has provided me much success, is a google search.
