Q: Engineering career/salary info for grads?

Edwards Finance > General Engineering

Q. I have been looking for statistics/information regarding engineering careers and their typical starting salaries for graduates (particularly Master's degree). I have my Bachelor's in Engineering Science (a WORTHLESS degree) from Penn State and will be going for my Master's in Electrical Engineering beginning this fall at Michigan State. Since I have a lot of undergraduate loans and looks like some graduate loans too, I need to make decent money when I graduate. Also, I haven't decided on what aspect of EE to concentrate. Because of these two reasons, I desparately need information regarding careers & salaries

A. -Please don't take this the wrong way, but what in the world is "Engineering Science?" On it's surface, it soudns like a program that teaches "what engineering is like" rather than any engineering. -The Engineering Science degree is intended to be a broader and more flexible degree program than those offered in the traditional engineering departments. UCLA used to only offer such a program (simply called a BS in general engineering to all grads). They have dropped this for the traditional BS in EE, etc. because without the strong departmental identities they could not achieve the high rankings they want to. Given that Charity is going on for a MS, the engineering science degree may actually have been a good choice. If she structured her program to achieve a great deal of breadth, she now has the MS to focus on a specialization providing an excellent mix of breadth and depth. The MS will overshadow any confusion by philistines as to just what an ES degree is. And please, if you get a BS in engineering science from an ABET-acreditted school, please do not ever compare it to an engineering technology degree - that is a whole different and lower tier degree altogether. Oh and for the record, my BS is in EE, but my cousin got his BS in engineering science
