Opening for Chair, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Marquette University See http://www.eng.mu.edu/departments/eece/chair_info.html Marquette University, a leading Jesuit Catholic institution, is accepting applications and nominations for the Chair of its Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering to start July 1, 2001. Marquette University derives a distinctive character from the combination of its moral and ethical commitments, its location in Milwaukee with its supportive industries, its excellent faculty with diverse religious convictions, and its deep involvement in and dedication to undergraduate and graduate education and scholarly research. Of the 12,000 students at Marquette, 300 are undergraduate students and 100 are graduate students in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. The Department has 14 faculty with an annual budget of externally supported research totaling about $1M. Faculty participate in the several interdisciplinary College of Engineering Research Centers. The successful Chair candidate will have an earned doctorate in electrical engineering or a closely related field, a distinguished record of research and professional achievement, and a demonstrated commitment to educational excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate will have sufficient experience to direct a multi- faceted academic department, the ability to articulate and promote the Department=92s mission, a participatory management style, personal integrity, and a strong commitment to professional ethics. In addition to furthering the development of the Department=92s educational programs, the candidate will be expected to recruit high quality students with diverse backgrounds and top flight faculty as needed and build external research support from federal and private sources.
