Landline telephone system?Q. Can anyone recommend a digital cordless telephone system for use on my BT landline at home? I'm looking for something that would allow me to add additional handsets (or a package that includes them). I don't need an answering message facility as I use BT's 1571 and I would want to be able to transfer an answered call to another of the handsets, for instances when I answer the phone and the call is for someone else, elsewhere in the house! The set also need to have a fairly decent range for reception. Anyone bought something of this sort? A. Bought some C&W heap of shite from Argos and the reception/range was dire. Took it back and bought a BT Diverse 3010 which is fantastic. Might be a different model number now. I'd agree with the Samsung comments - mine has always been poor. I've had several (Samsung, BT Diverse, Philips) and the Philips have been the best of the bunch, although I've seen others who don't agree. I've had little success with registering additional handsets on base stations, even where everything is GAP compatible. It is easy to end up with handsets half registered, features that don't work and poor range. Get the matching handsets at the time you buy the original set, or at least get the same make - that way you know who to blame when it all goes pear-shaped. Otherwise each of the manufacturers helplines will blame the other! Originally had the Synergy 2150. Range and reception were all good. You could add up to 4 extra phones. Calls could be transferred between handsets. Had to take it back after about 11 months as it started answering calls by itself! Only criticism was that the ringing sometimes continued after you answered the call so you got a loud noise in your ear. Changed it for the BT Diverse 4016. Does everything the Synergy did but I like it better. You can add up to 5 extra phones, calls can be transferred etc. The ringing doesn't continue when answered so no loud noise in your ear. The only criticism I can find is that it doesn't allow a different ringtone for external calls and internal transfers - although this is only on the additional handsets. The base handset does though.
