Systems Analyst / Hardware Engineer

Edwards Finance > Computer Engineering

Q. My current role is split between the NOC's for Computer Hardware Engineer and Computer Systems Analyst. I would prefer to apply as a Computer Hardware Engineer as I feel more comfortable in this role - the problem is I haven't got a degree, but the NOC states that one is required, is this a hard and fast rule? and if I put this as my intended occupation would it mean an automatic rejection? I have a Certificate in Computer Studies from college and also have a certificate of occupational competence in computing from a 2 year formal training course that I completed, and since leaving the course I've had over 11 years continous employment in this field, whereas the Systems Anaylst side of my role only took off about 4 years ago. I have also noticed that vacancies for Computer Systems Analysts generally follow the NOC description of Computer Hardware Engineers.

A. In this case you should apply as a Computer Sytems Analyst as the other entails a greater risk of refusal.
