Ranking Colleges by Major?

Edwards Finance > Computer Engineering

Q. I'm wondering if there is any place that ranks colleges by major, as opposed to overall. Specifically, I'm trying to find the best Computer Science schools. Anyone know where I can find such information?

A. -USN&WR, Gourman, CRA/NRC, Business Week. They all do... probably the most accurate IMHO is the Business Week poll. They actually poll computer scientists. NCR/CRA is good, but sorely out of date. Gourman is garbage. USN&WR... just go to the website and look under "Engineering" than "Computer"... it may seem like Computer Engineering, but my department chair informed me that it is the computer science departments (usually in the school of engineering). USN&WR is marginally better than Gourmans. -One such ranking is found in the Gourman Report. At the risk of being repetitive, be aware that many consider the Gourman rankings to be somewhere between bogus and useless. On the other hand, they may be useful if they suggest some schools that you hadn't thought of - just don't use them as an absolute guide to which schools you should apply to or attend! Ninth Edition rankings for Comp Sci are below. Top 10, highest ranked first: MIT Carnegie Mellon Berkeley Cornell Illinois (Urbana) UCLA Yale Cal Tech Texas (Austin) Wisconsin (Madison)
