Which undergraduate school?Edwards Finance > Mechanical Engineering Q. Which undergraduate school? Currently I’m a senior in high school and have been granted admission into Carnegie Mellon University, Tulane University, Case Western Reserve, and Rensselaer. I’m unsure if I want to go into electrical or mechanical engineering (I am leaning more towards mechanical with a possible minor in robotics ). I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on any of the institutions that might persuade me to go to one over the other. A. -I'm not an expert on universities, but I am attending the University of Wisconsin and studying Mechanical Engineering. I've heard that Carnegie Mellon and Rensselaer are both fine engineering schools. I've also heard that Case Western is known for biomedical engineering. Personally, I'd stick with the first two schools. -I graduated with a BSME from Rensellaer in 93. It is a very good engineering school, with a good reputation among employers, although they don't do too good of a job promoting themselves in the West and Midwest, so you do find lots of people (engineers) who have never heard of RPI. There is quite a bit of research being done in Robotics at RPI, I can't speak for the other schools. You may want to talk to the ME departments at the schools to find out what research areas the faculty is into, since you know what specialized field you are interested in. Feel free to email me back if you have more questions about Rensellae
