I know about the Cherry Creek school district. Is it as good as people say?

Q. My wife and I are looking to put our kids in school (elementary) in the Denver area. I know about the Cherry Creek school district. Is it as good as people say? Any others? Will the Denver school system be decent in 5 years now that bring isn't an issue ?

A. You and your wife sound like a couple of snobs. (California, is it?) Anyway, you might try out Alt.Arctic.com. I've heard that Nome, Alaska has a school district second to none. Best of all, you, the wife, the kids and the SUV would be far more welcome there than down here in lil' ol' Denver I'm rather new to the area as well, recently moved from Hawaii, and living South East of Denver. One of my sons is enrolled in Belleview Elementary School in the Cherry Creek School District, and I have been nothing short of impressed with the school, the support staff, the parents, and most especially the teachers. Cherry Creek, from what I understand, is one of the largest (if not the largest) school districts in Colorado, and they are quite diligent in making sure that each child is in the proper school, based on where they live. I do know that the do have "district exceptions" (i'm not sure if that's the proper term) for children that don't live within a given school's boundary area. As I mentioned, my son goes to Belleview Elementary, and he has 2 classmates that live in the heart of Denver. I may have no other experience to guage against, however I strongly feel that the Cherry Creek School District is among the best, for the reasons above, and for the curriculum, and the challenging and nurturing environment they surround the children in. You may want to give them a call (303/771-2840), although they may refer you to the Cherry Creek Administrative Services Offices .
