Finance Q&A

Cell phone service and phones ?

Edwards Finance > Phones

Q. I am getting ready to change cell providers and would like to hear your opinions about various services and phones. I currently have a Motorola V60i with AT&T and am not very happy with the service or the phone. I plan on switching to Verizon. I do not need a lot of gadgets, I primarily use the phone as a phone. I do use it for my business so the most important aspect is sound quality and good connections. The V60i has good sound quality but the damn antenna breaks off. AT&T seems to have a real crappy network around here and lousy customer service.

A. I'm glad I'm not the only one who hated that fucking phone. The antennas on the V60i are very fragile, and I snapped off about a dozen of the damned things. The friendly folks at Verizon were very sympathetic and agreed that it was a poor design, but were still more than happy to charge me $11 each for replacements. Eleven bucks for a little piece of fucking plastic! Finally killed the phone for good, and my insurance policy replaced it with a newer V60i, which had a newer, better antenna. Have had it for several months and haven't broken an antenna yet. Why the hell couldn't they give me a new phone sooner, instead of making me spend over $120 for replacement antennas? Still not a great phone, reception is not nearly as good as the cheap Nokias my friends have. As far as service, Verizon is the way to go. I work a lot of call at my hospital, and reliable cell phone service is a MUST. For cell phone reviews, maybe try epinions.com. Radem P.S.: Don't know about cell phones sites, but if any of you guys are looking for a digital camera, try this great site. This guy reviews nearly every camera made in extreme detail, and gives a lot of great information. He also takes the same pictures with each camera, so you can compare pictures and see which cameras are best. Used his info to buy my Olympus and Fuji digicams, and I'm damned happy with them. I'm with Verizon, and I have no complaints. I use my phone like you do (as a phone only and primarily for business), and I bought a $100 Kyocera with my original contract. I'm actually ready to change phones, as I'd like a flip-out, but like you I don't care for all the gadgets and extras (I would like a color screen though). Anyway, I'd recommend Verizon service based on my experience.
