Q. Going to have to get one of those pocket models. Last two movies I went to there was some idiot with a cell phone ringing.

A. But wait, what if the cellphone user is aware of the jamming and just blast out their ringtone anyway?, Or turn the volume up high and keys morse code messages using the keypad... How does the person with the cellphone jammer know for sure that the jammer is only jamming frequencies only used by cellphones? Any idiot that doesn't have sense enough to turn their cell phone off in a theater doesn't have enough brains to know Morse code. I think in such a blatant case, a more dramatic solution might be in order. Like maybe getting the folks in your part of the hall to join you in getting the conductor's attention & asking him to pause the performance -- then publically explaining exactly *why* you need the orchestra to go back a few minutes & start over. Alternatively, get the offender's phone number, call him, and tell him a close relative has died... Did you ever consider doctors that need to be contacted regarding their patients medical emergencies? Probably not! Call Phone jammers are illegal for a reason! Hopefully the FCC is monitoring this group. They already exist. Simply an alert receiver which looks for cell device transmissions such as "auto-registration" signals, and lights an LED or sounds a buzzer. Commonly used in 'secure' conference rooms, cardiac care units, and similar environments, where sensitive conversations take place, or where 'EMI' from the cell phone transmission could upset sensitive electronics in patient care equipment, avionics, etc. Because they have no audio detection/amplification stages and therefore cannot 'listen' to the conversations, they apparently slide under the radar of "no monitoring of cell phone freq" rules. Hm. You have more polite people than I have encountered. Here, they would have given him an option. His cell phone could leave the building, with out without him, his choice.
