Cell Phone Docking Station for Maxima ?

Q. Does anyone have any information on a cell phone docking station from Nissan available for their cars that works with a Motorola Microtac cellular phone. I am interested in finding out the cost and how good this system is and where it can be bought.

A. Last time I was in the parts department of my local Nissan Dealer I saw an ad on the wall for a docking station for a cell phone from Nissan but didn't really pay attention as to what kind of phone. Maybe call you local dealer and see what they have. The phone offered through Nissan / Infiniti dealers was an OE design of a modified Motorola MicroTac phone. There were some minor differences between it and the comparable Motorola item, so they are NOT interchangeable. In other words, you can't use a Motorola phone in the Nissan cradle, or vice-versa. You will have to find a dealer who still has one in stock, cause the factory no longer has them available at any of the parts depots, and Motorola has none (they also no longer support it). I just got through putting a StarTac 8600 into an Infiniti Q-45 (with the cradle in the center console, the handsfree speaker in the rear of the center console and the handset to the right of the stereo) and other then having an 'auto radio mute'/play through the radio speakers feature, it works awesome! MUCH better then the factory supplied unit in the last "Q" (and a hell of a lot cheaper).
