Searching by phone number in address book ?

Edwards Finance > Phones

Q. I use my phone in my home based business. I try to log the calls, but my phone bill shows those I forgot. To include them as a business expense, I'd like to search by phone number in my address book to verify who we called.

A. That works (very quickly) on a one-by-one basis: enter a phone number, get the contact. If you'd rather have your whole address book sorted by phone number so you can just check the list for all of these numbers, you could get my Sort by Field script at the same place and sort by Phone Number. Idem for GARMIN Nüvis and StreetPilot units which have in database millions of POI with full adress incl. phone numbers. No unit (nor the PC software) offers a search by phone number except the ones with BlueTooth capacities. Some GPS with BlueTooth connectivities allowed to restrict search to POI with phone numbers , but no from a specific/part of a phone number. Also, these units allowed look for phone number in the compatible cell phone, but this is more a function of the cell-phone rather than a function of the GPS. How strange is sameone who better remembers phone numbers than names of peoples, places or locations ! Is this phone number database connected to phone-call-center business or home-call marketing activities ? You understand that this would provide reverse-directory capabilities, don't you ? If you knew a phone number you could find out which building it belonged to, and who lived or worked there. The POIs that come with my GPS unit don't include private addresses, but even reverse-directory capability for businesses is normally a service which costs many thousands of pounds a year.
