Finance Q&A

business looking to move phone providers ?

Edwards Finance > Phones

Q. The business I work for has 80 staff. We have cable and wireless connections into the building for our telephone service. We think the service from cable and wireless is awful. We have problems with the connections and are looking to move back to alternative low cost routing.

A. I can help you out here. I've signed up customers to Your Communications not only from BT but also C&W, Colt, Redstone etc and over the past two years have (so far!) not lost a single customer. We have simple pricing with per second billing and 1p minimum call charge. (Cable & Wireless prices may appear to be competitive but, for their UKLink package for example, they add 1p call connection charge to every UK landline call and 2p to every UK mobile call!) If you still have BT lines, our solution is simple and is carried out at the local exchange as it is a CPS service. If you actually have Cable & Wireless direct lines, you will have to go back to BT first to access alternative carriers. Check out our website www.yourcommunications.co.uk, then send me an email if you'd like to discuss it further. In general terms, as well as checking headline rates: Check against discounted BT Check if billing per sec, per min etc Check minimum call charge (if any) Check call setup charge (if any) Check minimum contract length If you make calls out of peak hours, check if charges are flatrate or if they vary between two or three charging periods Last but not least, check who carries the calls, their capacity etc, also if they compress calls (no good if you want to send data), if they refile mobile calls (no good if you want you're CLI to be carried to mobiles you ring)...
