I have some college (1983-1985) but my grades were not very good. Most of what I know in engineering was taught to me by a now retired engineer whom I worked for and consider to be my mentor. I live in Baltimore Md. and I'm interested in applying my work experiences toward a BS degree in engineering. Any readers of this NG that could offer suggestions in regards to a distance learning program would be appreciated. A. -A few generic suggestions to follow, just to get you started. This program has a residency requirement consisting of a handful of on-campus weekend labs. The tuition is really quite high compared to the other programs that Tom cited (e.g. Regents, TESC, COSC). Federal financial aid is available at RIT (including scholarships and grants). http://distancelearning.rit.edu/BSEM.html If you ever decide to pursue graduate study, the University of Idaho has a solid Master's program in mechanical engineering (as well as a variety of other disciplines). The only residency requirement for this program is the oral comprehensive final exam. Federal financial aid is available for this one as well. http://www.uidaho.edu/evo/newhtml/progrms.html
