Fraudulent Bellsouth Request?Q. According to our records, the telephone number we have on file to bill your BellSouth Internet Service, is no longer a valid BellSouth telephone number. This may occur when you move to a new address, change your telephone number or you change your local telephone company. BellSouth Internet Service can only bill your account through a valid BellSouth telephone number or a valid American Express, MasterCard or VISA credit card. A. After selecting the Billing Method link, follow the prompts to either update your telephone number billing information (you will need a copy of your BellSouth telephone bill to provide all of the necessary information), or change the bill method to a valid American Express, MasterCard, or Visa credit card. Looks valid to me. Perhaps your local service has been highjacked. You can call BS Residence Billing at 557-6500 to see what the status of your number is. Another possibility is that if you are being billed via Credit card, the card you have on file may be expired, and you need to update the expiration date on record. I don't think that applies in your case, since they specifically said that your phone number is no longer a valid Bell South number. If you had two phone lines and had DSL installed on one of them, then later you disconnected voice service on that second line which had the DSL signal on it, that would create a red flag too. There is a number to dial to confirm your LD carrier, but I don't know if there is one for Local verification. This happened to me when the company changed local service from BellSouth to Momentum. I elected to keep the ADSL directly with BellSouth, so they had to have a CC number. No longer could put it on the monthly phone bill.
